Apple Support for Charity

Introduction

Steve Jobs wasn't known for philanthropy. Some wondered if he made anonymous donations to charity, some criticized him for his lack of public giving, while others defended him. Jobs reportedly told his biographer Walter Isaacson that he could do more to change the world for the better by making great products, not by donating directly to charitable causes. Nevertheless, under his watch Apple's charitable efforts included participation in the (PRODUCT)RED group working to eliminate HIV/AIDS in Africa and support for disaster relief efforts of the Red Cross.

Since Tim Cook became CEO in August 2011, Apple has continued or stepped up its support for charities.
